Since every golfer has a different shape, size and golf swing, no golfer who uses off-the-rack clubs from a pro shop or golf shop can hope to ever reach the top of his game. There are no one-size-fits-all golf clubs.

Whether you are breaking 90 on a regular basis or just starting out in the sport, custom-made clubs can make a real difference in how well you play. This is because each club is specifically matched to suit to your strength, swing style, clubhead speed and height.

Getting a custom-made set of clubs is easy and takes less than an hour. It starts with a trip to your local pro shop where a teaching pro can give you a custom club fitting.

The fitter will observe as you hit balls outdoors. He will record the various characteristics of your swings and the trajectories of the balls you hit. While you can be fitted for every club in your bag, it is common for the fitter to focus on mostly on drivers and irons. You can expect to hit with a number of variations of the same club during your fitting session.

As a result of your custom fitting, the confidence you will feel about using the right equipment will improve your game almost as much as your new custom clubs.

If you’re an avid golfer, you can surely attest to the frustration of slicing or hooking a ball into the trees. I originally thought that simply ordering the Golf Channel through http://www.satellitetv-hq.com and watching the instructional videos would help improve my swing. However, I quickly found out that there was no quick-and-easy way to develop a consistent swing. You have to actually get out to the course and practiceand practice…and practice again. Here are the tips that were most helpful for me:

1) Swing with your arms and hands, not your body. Make sure you have a tight grip on the club without tensing up your forearms.

2) Keep your feet, hips and shoulders parallel to the ball.

3) Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart (you can go a little wider if it’s more comfortable) and make sure your weight is evenly distributed on the balls of your feet.

4) Make sure your swing occurs fluidly. If you’ve ever seen Charles Barkley swing a golf club, you know what I’m talking about. Your arms, hips and shoulders should all rotate in one harmonic motion.

5) Make sure your head remains down until you have completely finished your swing. Too many golfers tend to lift their head up as soon as they make contact with the ball.

Golf etiquette is not only important to show manners during the game is also has to do with maintaining the quality and safety of the game during play.

Players should always hold the safety of others first and not swing their clubs or hit their golf ball until they know that other players on the course are at a safe distance. If a golfer has swung at their ball and suddenly sees another player in the way then they should yell out “fore”. Players’ need to practice caution by not swinging their clubs towards another golfer. Showing anger such as this is not a safe or mature way to act on the golf course at any age.

Players who use a golf cart should not drive recklessly across the greens or on the greens at all. Golf carts can damage the greens and prime playing areas. Don’t clown around during a game, as this will hold other players up, and is rude. If you or your group is held up for any reason the proper thing to do is to wave the group directly behind you forward.

Never talk or shout out during another player’s golf swing. Childlike behavior is never acceptable on a golf course. Keep golf etiquette in action at all times while on the golf course, in order to keep everyone happy and safe, and be a responsible golfer.

Would you know how to prepare for your next golf trip? You enjoyed the game and now you can’t wait to try it again. Being outdoors, inhaling all that fresh air and looking at all the beauty around you, feeling your body relaxing, you step up to the ball and swing your golf club. What’s better than doing just that?

The first thing you’ll need to do is to make sure the weather will be permitting to have a game of golf. Make sure you are wearing the right clothing because you are going to be outdoors for the day and it can get very hot outside with the sun beating down on you or very cold depending on when you are going to play the game. Bring a hat with you to shield you from that sun as best as possible and anything else that is going to help you throughout the day as you play your game of golf.

Some people do warm up exercises to get their bodies ready for the game so you can prepare that way as well, just a bit of stretching will help your lower back. Now you are ready to step up to the ball and begin playing. There is a lot to do to prepare for a game of golf but in the end, if this is your game, you’ll want to prepare for it in the right way.

When it comes to the game of gold, much has been made regarding Tiger Woods over the past decade and a half. However, with him starting to fade into the limelight with hit professional golf career, it is time to look back and see if he is the greatest to every play the game, or if he is just one of the better golfers. Of course, he instantly comes to mind, because a few years ago, he was winning what seemed every major championship around. Although this hasn’t been the case as of late, you can’t argue what he was able to do in the past. However, is he really the best when compared to other golfers?

When it comes to the greatest golfer, you really need to look at the number of major championships they actually won. Tiger Woods has won 14 major golf championships, which is a substantial amount. However, he is four behind Jack Nicklaus with 18. Although Tiger could always win another four or five, at this pace it looks like he won’t any time soon. On top of it all, there weren’t as many major championships in play when Jack was at his prime, which means he could have won even more.

Golfers are always looking for ways to improve their swing and get more distance on the ball. The key is having the right fundamentals and to find the power in a swing to drive the ball with more accuracy and with greater precision.

1. A longer swing does not mean more distance on the ball. In fact, a long swing only dissipates the power and eradicates some of the golfer’s control. With the correct body turn and wrist hinge, a three quarter swing will allow the golfer to gain greater distance and have more control over the ball. The full explanation can be found at http://blog.timesunion.com/golf/your-swing-style-is-your-life-style/4424/

2. Follow through helps direct the ball and will give the golfer longer distance. Holding the club firmly but in a relaxed fashion throughout the swing will allow higher impact. The follow through of the golf swing delivers maximum power. Flexibility is essential for an effective follow through. Strengthening back muscles with exercise that stretch and strengthen are as critical as the perfected golf swing.

3. The position of the ball on the tee is essential to getting the proper lift on the ball. When the ball is on the tee, the top half should be above the face of the club. It may take a little practice to get the ball positioned just right, but once that is accomplished, the ball will sail straight and true and for longer distances.
